Deinas is a ritual in nine tableaus in the language of mythical thinking, at the time when the Mother Goddess was the preeminent divinity of the Mediterranean.
To this day, Sardinia is a mysterious location with deep cultural roots. The Domus de Janas (Fairy Houses), Menhir, Nuraghi, Sacred Wells and Tombs of the Giants show the deeply religious spirit of the ancient Sardinian people. Over time, the prehistorical ritual sites were overlaid with edifices of Christian faith, but forms of pagan magic survived: sometimes islanders, with a liltte skepticism, still consult meigas (healers) and deinas (soothsayers).
"Il Crogiuolo" is a theatre company founded in 1982 by Mario Faticoni, and currently directed by Rita Atzeri. Our mission is to encourage theatre culture in all its forms, and give a voice to our times through theatre. The creativity we embrace drives us to produce performances of political and civic engagement, which we make intriguing and fun. To find out more about our work, follow us on our website www.ilcrogiuolo.eu and Facebook page @Ilcrogiuolo/FucinaTeatro.
